News about the POE Advanced

Application deadline: Although the January 2008 issue of The American Organist lists the deadline as March 1, the deadline was extended to March 15, as printed in the brochures, which is the correct date.

Joel Martinson, guest composer Mr. Martinson, a wonderful and well regarded composer of music for the church, will be coming to the POEA to give a master class on his own music and talk with the students about working with composers and writing music for the church. Upon acceptance to the POEA, each student will receive one of Mr. Martinson's short compositions to learn. We are sure that this chance for students to interact with a composer and discuss his music will be a highly valuable experience for everyone! You can find more information about Joel Martinson here

Omaha field trip: The POE Advanced students and faculty will be taking a field trip to Omaha to visit St. Cecilia Cathedral, home of a wonderful Pasi organ which contains both well-tempered and mean-tone stops, and to visit the home of Robert Markworth to hear the wonderful Kimball/Wurlitzer theatre organ there.
