Dr. Jeffrey Blersch will lead a hymn festival on the first evening of the convention with the Seward Lutheran Summer High School Choir

Jeffrey Blersch Dr. Jeffrey Blersch is Associate Professor of Music and University Organist at Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska, where he teaches studio organ, courses in organ improvisation, service playing, and organ literature, and serves as Chair of the Department of Music. He is a graduate of the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music where he received degrees in organ performance and music education, and of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he earned the Doctor of Musical Arts in Organ Performance. He has studied organ with Roberta Gary, Garth Peacock, and Marilyn Mason, organ improvisation with Haskell Thomson, and choral conducting with Herbert Henke and Daniel Moe.

Prior to his appointment at Concordia, Dr. Blersch served as Cantor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Peoria, IL, Associate Professor of Music at Concordia University, Ann Arbor, MI, and as an elementary music specialist in the Brunswick City Schools, Brunswick, Ohio.

Dr. Blersch has been actively involved in church music since being appointed organist of Peace Lutheran Church, Cincinnati, Ohio, at age eight. As a nationally recognized organist and composer, he regularly performs recitals and hymn festivals across the United States and is best known for his creative hymn interpretations. Over forty of his compositions and collections are published exclusively with Concordia Publishing House. He has recently released his first compact disc recording, Resounding Alleluias which features his own compositions and arrangements. Dr. Blersch and his wife Carla, also an organist, have three children, Aaron, Ryan, and Jenna.
